How to Find M-ASA's Flying Locations

The Mid-Atlantic Soaring Center 

From D.C., Baltimore and points south:
-   Take I-70 or I-270 toward Frederick MD, Take Rt 15 North exit.
-   I-270 turns into U.S. Rt 15, There is an exit to U.S. Rt 15 north from I-70.
-   Follow Rt 15 north to the Emmitsburg exit (South Seton Avenue, exit for the Fallen Fireman Memorial).
-   When you reach the Main Street in Emmitsburg, make a left turn and follow Rt 16
-   After passing the "Welcome to Pennsylvania" sign (PA state line), make the first right onto Orchard Road.
-   Go approximately 100 yeards, and make the first left onto Topper Road.
-   Follow Topper Road (it becomes Pecher Rd.) approximately 2.9 miles, M-ASA is on the right.

From Pennsylvania and parts north:
-   Get to U.S. Rt 15 and proceed south.
-   Follow Rt 15 south to the Emmitsburg exit (North Seton Avenue, exit for the Fallen Fireman Memorial).
-   When you reach the Main Street in Emmitsburg, make a right turn and follow Rt 16.
-   After passing the "Welcome to Pennsylvania" sign (PA state line), make the first right onto Orchard Road.
-   Go approximately 100 yeards, and make the first left onto Topper Road.
-   Follow Topper Road approximately 2.9 miles, M-ASA is on the right.

M-ASA at The Frederick Municipal Airport 

From Baltimore and points east:
-   Get to I-70 heading west toward Frederick MD.
-   Stay on I-70 until Exit 56. Get off at Exit 56 (Patrick Street).
-   Follow Patrick Street west til you get to Monroe Street.
-   Turn Right on Monroe St. (just before entrance to fairgrounds).
-   First left on Highland St. (right behind fairgrounds).
-   At stop sign, right on Church St/Gas House Pike.
-   On Gas House Pike, watch for sign "Dangerous Curve" and the ribbed pavement (about 1 mile ?).
-   Just around the curve turn right across low concrete bridge (toward water treatment plant).
-   Then left on service road to hangar (a sign points the way to the hangar from the bridge).

From D.C. and suburbs and points south:
-   I-270 north to exit 31-A, Route 85 north.
-   From 85 North bear left on on Route 355, which becomes Market Street in the Historic District.
-   Turn right on Church Street and proceed about 2 miles.  Church Street becomes Gas House Pike.
-   Turn right over low concrete bridge to water treatment plant (just after ribbed pavement and "Dangerous Curve" sign) and follow sign to M-ASA.

From Pennsylvania and points north:
-   U.S. Rt 15 south to Frederick Md.
-   Get off at the 7th street (Ft Dietrick) exit and head east on 7th street.
-   Follow 7th street until it ends at East street
-   Turn south (right on 7th street.
-   Make a left turn onto 5th street (This street will end after about two blocks).
-   Make a right turn onto the street at the end of 5th street.
-   Follow this street until it ends at Church street. Make a left turn onto Church Street.
-   On Gas House Pike, watch for sign "Dangerous Curve" and the ribbed pavement (about 1.25 miles ?).
-   Just around the curve turn right across low concrete bridge (toward water treatment plant).
-   Then left on service road to hangar (a sign points the way to the hangar from the bridge).
